Guides for building a local music collection using the open-source MUSICat platform.
The MUSICt Artist Payments Service can be turned on anytime in your MUSICat Configuration page (just let us know that you want to use the service first! :).
A librarian sends invites to artists and they begin signing licenses in the Complete Submission stage.
When artists sign a license, along with after-signing messages like the thank you, artists will see an “Artist Payment Information” display that will show the dates on which a librarian releases an artist payment, Rabble issued a payment, and Rabble received notification that the payment was processed.
You, as a librarian administrator, will be able to see the Artist Payment Information on individual license pages, and you will also have access to Librarian Tools for the payment service directly beneath the Artist Info (artists cannot see or access the Librarian Tools).
When you’ve confirmed that a payment can be sent to a particular artist, make sure the Authorized Payment Amount is correct (it defaults to your honorarium set in Configs) and click “Release Payment.” MUSICat will record the date on which you released payment.
On our end, we’ll be tracking when we issue payments, and when checks are processed. The Artist Payment Information section will update to display new information when the library releases payment and when Rabble issues it.
In addition to this information, we’ll be sending email notifications to artists about their payments, and BCCing your collection email on those communications.
Checks will be mailed USPS First Class. Once Rabble issues a check, it should arrive to a musician within 3 - 4 days at the outside.
You’ll also find a new MUSICat Artist Payments Report on the reports page that contains all of the data mentioned above plus some basic license, artist, and album data.
