Guides for building a local music collection using the open-source MUSICat platform.
You can access MARC records for the published albums in your collection on the Reports page in Text or Binary formats. You can grab all of the published records in your collection or filter by publication round.
Our open-source MARCout tool creates MARC records for albums, when albums are published. It is possible to publish but not list albums in advance of a collection or round launch. Check out the Review and Publish documentation for details.
Usually when the MARCout tool fails it is because of a missing track number in an album. If you see an error where you believe you should see MARC records, and you know you have published albums in your collection, you can use our MARC scanner to check that the MARC output for all published albums is valid. The scanner is at your-collection-url/admin/utilities/albumscan
Click the “Begin scan” button and the scanner will check that each album in your collection can produce a valid MARC record. Albums with invalid MARC record output will produce red “No”’s.
99.9% of the time a red “No” means that the album in question is missing a track number. That can be updated on the individual album page in the Review and Publish stage, and clicking Save & Publish
