Guides for building a local music collection using the open-source MUSICat platform.
Library admins can filter records by round, edit content provided by Artists including banner images and Album cover art, save, publish, and unpublish records.
The “Update Durations” button in Review and Publish will reencode tracks if it doesn’t successfully grab durations on its first try. This means that in cases where Update Durations did not previously work, it’ll take a at least a few seconds for durations to populate.
Admins can save their work without publishing, or save and publish at the same time: the latter action publishes artists and albums on the public site. Note: admins must publish both artists and albums separately.
Green checks appear next to published Artists and Albums. Incomplete published pairs (e.g. a published album with an unpublished artist) are highlighted in red.
Admins can select whether published albums and artists are listed. Unlisted published pages can be viewed directly at their respective URLs, but will not appear in public lists.
Orange checks appear next to published but unlisted Artists and Albums.
Published an album by mistake? Need to update an artist or album name? Use the “Unpublish” button.
Trash Artists and Albums you need to remove entirely.
Note: to change either an artist or album name, you must unpublish all associated artists and albums, make the change, and then republish everything. This will update all instances of the artist and/or album name on the site, including URLs.
